If you are wondering about what to do with your broken garments, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Die Oma Ecke is an initiative Inspired by my grandmother who has teached me how to repair my own clothes as a teen. So, based on this personal experience I came up with the idea about join grandmas and young people in a place with the materials they need to repair their broken garments. Die Oma ecke, wich means the grandma corner, teaches people to repair their own broken garments, bringing the opportunity to see their possessions in a new light and appreciate their value once again. The repair practice helps change people’s mindset. This is essential to kindle people’s enthusiasm for a sustainable society and slowdown fashion consumption.
Sponsored by Bernina and Fashion revolution Day, Die Oma Ecke, is a free meeting place where you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any clothing repairs you need.
In 2018 “Die Oma Ecke” joins once more to the Fashion Revolution Switzerland as a workshop in the Ethical Fashion Market, It will take place at The Impact Hub at the former EWZ Kraftwerk Selnau Zürich. You and your plus are welcome from 13:00 to 18:00, on the 28th of April.
Bring your broken items from home. Together with the grandmothers you will start making your own repairs, this is a very rewarding learning process.
And If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea. Or you can lend a hand with someone else’s repair job!
See you there!
